Connecting Nomni POS sends your customers and their Nomni Loyalty details into Liven Engage automatically. You only do this once per business. If you have several stores under one head office, connect from the head office and every store under it is covered.
Before you start
You need an admin login for Liven Engage (only admins can see the API settings).
You need an owner or admin login for the Nomni POS Back Office.
If you can't see the Liven Engage page in your Back Office, contact us and we'll switch it on.
1. Copy your API URL and key from Liven Engage
Log in to Liven Engage.
Click Settings (the gear icon), then Developer.
In the API access section, copy the URL and the Key.
Things to know about the key: - Keep it private. Anyone with it can read and change your contacts. - Each user has their own key. Use the key from a long-term admin login, such as the main account owner. If the user whose key you copied is later removed, the key stops working and your sync stops.
2. Paste them into the POS Back Office
Log in to the Nomni POS Back Office for your head office.
Open the Liven Engage page.
Click Settings. The connection settings window opens.
Paste the API URL and API Key. - Paste the URL exactly as shown in Liven Engage. Don't add
/api/3or a slash at the end. - Check there are no spaces before or after either value.Click Save. You'll see "License Key saved successfully." Saving applies the connection to your head office and all of its stores.
3. Run your first full sync
Saving your settings switches on automatic syncing for new and changed customers. It doesn't copy the customers you already have. To bring them all in:
On the Liven Engage page, click Sync Contacts.
You'll see "Syncing Contacts, please wait...". The import keeps running in the background. Large customer lists can take a while.
In Liven Engage, open Contacts and check your customers are arriving in the All Contacts list.
The first sync also creates the All Contacts list and all of the customer fields for you. You only need Sync Contacts once at setup, and again if we ask you to after a fix.
Heads up: the Sync Contacts button always shows a success message, even if something goes wrong in the background. Always check that customers actually arrived (see Check that your customer sync is working).
What syncs and when
Change in Nomni POS | When it reaches Liven Engage | Can it start automations? |
A customer is created or edited (POS, Back Office, online ordering, kiosk or customer import) | Usually within minutes | Yes |
A customer earns, redeems or has Nomni Loyalty points refunded | Usually within minutes | Yes |
Spend, visits and product details for customers active in the last two days | Once a day, early morning (Sydney time) | No |
Your first full sync (Sync Contacts) | When you click the button | No |
For the full list of fields, see Customer data that syncs to Nomni Marketing (Liven Engage).
How customers are matched
By email address. Each email can belong to only one contact. If two customers in Nomni POS share an email, they become one contact showing whichever synced last.
Customers need a valid email to sync. Customers with no email, or an email with spaces, accents, other special characters or an obvious typo (such as
.con,.vom,gmil.comor.c0m), are skipped. Fix the email on the customer profile and they'll sync.Customers are added to All Contacts as subscribed. The sync doesn't read the email marketing checkboxes on the POS customer profile. Make sure you have permission before emailing synced customers (see Email marketing rules: consent, unsubscribes and bounces).
Things to avoid
Don't create, rename or delete the synced fields or the All Contacts list. The sync finds them by name. If you need a different field, create one with a new name.
Don't save settings on the older Campaigns email page in the Back Office. It uses the same key slot as Liven Engage and will overwrite your connection. If you've done this, paste your Liven Engage URL and key again on the Liven Engage page.
Don't share the key or use it for other tools without asking us.
