Create and send an email campaign in Nomni Marketing (Liven Engage)

Build a one-off email such as a promotion or newsletter, test it, send it to the right customers and read the results.

A campaign is a one-off email, such as a new menu launch, a weekend promotion or a monthly newsletter. For emails that should send automatically when something happens (welcome, birthday, win-back), use an automation instead.

Campaign types

Type

Use it when

Standard

You want to send one email now or at a scheduled time

Split test (A/B)

You want to test up to a few versions of the subject line, sender or content. You can send each version to an equal share of your audience, or send the versions to a sample first and automatically send the winner (by opens or clicks) to everyone else

1. Create the campaign

  1. Go to Campaigns and click Create a campaign.

  2. Give it an internal name, choose the type, then continue.

  3. Choose your recipients. Pick one or more lists, then narrow them with a segment, for example All Contacts plus SEG_Lapsed60d. Check the recipient count before you go on.

  4. Pick a design. Start from a template, a saved brand template or a blank layout.

2. Design the email

  • Use the drag-and-drop designer. Keep the main message and button near the top, because many people only read the first screen.

  • Use your logo and brand colours. Save the design as a template once you're happy, so every email looks consistent.

  • Stick to the built-in web-safe fonts. Custom fonts don't show in every email app.

  • Personalise with fields such as first name, or add synced fields such as Reward Points from the personalisation menu. Always set a fallback (for example "there" instead of a blank name).

  • Add alt text to images, don't put important text only inside images, and keep images small so the email loads quickly on mobile.

  • Keep the footer. It must include your business address and an unsubscribe link, and both are already in the default footer.

3. Subject line and sender

  • From name: your venue name, so people recognise you.

  • From email: an address on your authenticated domain (see Set up and authenticate your sending domain). Avoid Gmail, Hotmail and Outlook.com addresses.

  • Reply-to: an inbox someone actually checks.

  • Subject: keep it short (around 50 characters or less) and specific. Use the preview text to add detail.

  • Avoid ALL CAPS, lots of exclamation marks and "free!!!"-style wording.

4. Test, then send

  1. Click Send test and check the email on a phone and a computer, in Gmail and Outlook if you can. Click every link.

  2. For your first sends, send a real campaign to a small internal list first.

  3. Choose Send now or schedule a time. Check your account time zone so it goes at the right local time. Mid-morning, or the afternoon before the offer, usually works well for hospitality.

Why a campaign might not send straight away

New campaigns are sometimes checked automatically before they go out. You may see Pending approval or Analyzing. This usually clears within minutes. If it hasn't cleared within a business day, contact us.

5. After sending

Open Reports (or the campaign's report) to see: - Opens and clicks: which links people clicked and who engaged - Unsubscribes: if these are high, send less often or segment more tightly - Bounces: addresses that couldn't be delivered (see Email marketing rules: consent, unsubscribes and bounces)

Good follow-ups: - Send to people who didn't open, a few days later, with a new subject line. - Tag people who clicked a particular offer so you can follow up with something similar.
