This guide provides instructions on how to view and use saved Looks in Liven Insights. By following this guide, you’ll be able to interact with Looks independently without affecting other users.
Finding and Viewing Looks
Looks in Liven Insights can be organized and accessed in the following ways:
Folders: Navigate through the list of folders (e.g., Marketing, Q4 Sales Review) in the Folders section on the left navigation panel.
Boards: Access specific boards by expanding the Boards section in the left navigation panel.
Homepage: Open Looks directly from your Liven Insights homepage.
To open a Look, select its name or thumbnail based on your content view (grid or list view).
The Look Page
When you open a Look, you’ll see the following elements:
Title and Folder Name: The Look’s title and the folder it is saved in. You can favorite a Look by selecting the heart icon next to its title.
Data Information: Displays row count, report runtime, and data age.
Query Timestamp: Hover over this to see the exact date and time the data was queried.
Time Zone: Shows the time zone of the data (if enabled by your admin).
Explore Actions Gear Menu: Access more actions (described below).
Details Panel: Provides additional information about the Look.
Other sections can be expanded or collapsed as needed:
Filters: Shows filters applied to the Look. You can adjust these temporarily to refine data. Select the Run button to apply any changes.
Visualization: Displays the Look's data visually.
Tooltip: Hover over data points in the visualization for additional details.
Data Table: Shows underlying data and allows for adjustments:
Field Sort Order: Click column headings to sort values. Hold Shift to sort multiple columns. Changes are temporary unless saved.
Row and Column Limits: Adjust as needed, then select the Run button to apply changes.
Reset Look: Select this to return to the Look's original settings if you make any temporary changes (filters, sorting, row limits, etc.).
You can also select Explore from Here to use the Look as a basis for further data exploration by modifying filters, visualizations, and sorting.
The Look Explore Actions Gear Menu
The Explore Actions Gear Menu offers several options for managing Looks, depending on your permissions:
Save: Save the Look as a tile on a new or existing dashboard, or save a copy in another folder.
Download: Download the Look in various formats.
Add to Board: Add the Look to an existing board.
Send: Send the Look as a one-off delivery.
Schedule: Set up recurring delivery for the Look.
Share: Copy a link to share the Look with others.
Get Embed URL: Generate a URL for embedding the Look in an iframe.
Edit Settings: Enable or disable Run on Load (enabled by default).
Merge Results: Merge the Look’s query results with other queries.
Clear Cache and Refresh: Override cache settings and retrieve fresh data.
Move to Trash: Delete the Look.
The Details Panel
The Details Panel (on the right side of the Look page) allows quick access to more information and customization options:
Expand/Collapse: Use the circle-arrow icon to show or hide the panel.
Description: View or edit the Look’s description.
Scheduled Section: Review or manage existing schedules for the Look.
On Dashboards Section: See dashboards where the Look is added as a tile, or add it to new or existing dashboards.
History: View changes made to the Look’s settings by other users.
Choosing Time Zones
To set a specific time zone, select the current time zone shown in the upper right of the Look page. Adjusting this setting impacts date-related filters like "today" and "yesterday." For more information, consult the Using Time Zone Settings documentation page.
Navigation Shortcuts
You can quickly navigate to other items saved within the same folder as the Look:
Select the folder name displayed on the Look page.
Choose an item from the drop-down menu to go to the Look's folder or any dashboards or Looks saved in the same folder.
By following these steps, you can efficiently view, interact with, and manage Looks in Liven Insights for comprehensive data exploration and analysis.
